Report on Project
The program started with a friendly match between the prisoners and the organizing team. There was a break immediately after the match, before the gathering of everyone concerned. The Price giving ceremony begun at 11:30 am and we heard speeches from the prison superintendent and the representative of the local youth corner respectively. The prisoners welcomed us with cultural dances, sketches, handmade baskets and breloques, which were all fabricated at the prison. They also did a fashion parade that showcased clothes and shoes that were made by the participants of the competition. The Bamenda central prison was awarded the best price with the best female and male prisoner. The Juvenile esssay competition was our main interest because it’s directly linked to our organisation’s objectives. The first price for the juvenile inmates category was won by the kribi central prison. To add, this best inmate was 17 years old and was arrested and jailed for theft. Our leader had a word with the detainees and encouraged them to serve their sentence with diligence and enrol themselves into various programs made available by the organizations and the government for their welfare. This project had other partners like Brokers & bro who offered the prisoners a 3 months computer training course. After all these, we proceeded to the administrative block where we shared a meal with our partners and took memorable pictures for archives and future purposes.
