The Corona Virus Case of Maranatha

Providing Support for Orphans During the Corona Virus Pandemic

The Case of Maranatha Orphanage, Bonagang, Douala.

APRIL 03, 2020

A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT OF MANDA FOUNDATION WITH I AM HUMAN ORG.

The team set out at 10 am on the 3rd of April 2020, to sensitize the children at the Maranatha Orphanage about the new COVID (Coronavirus) pandemic that took a hit on the world early this year. We were able to educate the children with the use of charts, videos and stickers bearing instructions on all security measures to be respected in other not to be infected.

We created demarcation with the use of stickers in the shapes of footprints and circles with 2meter distance amongst each other to demonstrate social distancing. We explained to them the reasons why they must wash and sanitize their hands and stay at home.

For the younger kids, we projected Cartoons with detailed explanations on how CORONA virus manifests and how to prevent it. To ensure that the children understood the importance of this exercise, we organized games so as to have them memorize the safety protocol and know the Green numbers to call in cases emergencies.

We donated hand sanitizers, buckets with taps to wash hands, detergents, antibacterial soap (brick and liquid), bleach, Dettol, face masks, educative stickers, card games, books, a set of Monopoly to keep them occupied during the confinement period. Before leaving, we made a short detailed video reminding the children to respect security measures.
